Obedience 1.1 Syllabus

After having completed your consultation, we begin the 6 week program as outlined below.

Week 1:

  • Safety Rules and General Information

  • Meet and Greet puppies

  • Puppy playtime and socialization circle

  • Clickers and conditioned reinforcers

  • How to Lure

  • Introduce Focus and Release Cue

  • Sit Cue

  • Place Cue

  • Handling and Touch Desensitization

  • Discuss House Training and Crate Training

Week 2:

  • Puppy playtime

  • Review Cues

  • Release Cue fluency

  • Focus Fluency 

  • Sit Verbal Cue

  • Capturing and Luring Down Behavior

  • “Drop it” Cue

  • Handling and Touch Desensitization 

  • Problem Solving Discussion (nipping, jumping)

Week 3:

  • Puppy Playtime

  • Review Cues

  • Down Verbal Cue

  • Drop-it Fluency

  • Loose-leash walking

  • Stand Cue

  • Handling and Touch Desensitization

  • Problem-Solving Discussion

Week 4:

  • Puppy playtime

  • Review Cues

  • Practice “Let’s Go” Fluency

  • Add Distractions

  • Introduce the stand verbal cue

  • Introduce the Come Running Game

  • Introduce the “Take it” Cue

  • Handling and Touch Desensitization 

  • Problem Solving Discussions

Week 5:

  • Puppy Playtime

  • Review Cues

  • Add Distractions

  • Add Auto-Sit to Come Cue

  • “Take it” Fluency 

  • “Leave-it” Cue

  • Introduce Puppy Push-ups Behavior Chain

  • Handling and Touch Desensitization 

  • Problem Solving Discussion

Week 6:

  • Puppy Playtime

  • Review Cues

  • Group Loose-leash Walk

  • Cue Demonstrations

  • Diplomas
